Why do women get made fun of (by other women) for liking short guys?

I'm about 5'9, I told one of my female friends I found this guy (he's about 5'5 - 5'4) really attractive and she burst out in laughter.

She said we would make a bad-looking couple because he would need to stand on something if he wanted to kiss me, and I would be the 'man' of the relationship? :/

It did hurt me a little bit, but it made me think because this is not the first time, a female friend has made fun of me for liking guys shorter than my height. When I tell my male friends about my crushes who are around 5'5 - 5'4 they tend to applaud me for liking shorter guys which I find strange as well.

Why is weird for tall (ish) girls to like short guys? Why are short guys the butt of the joke?

Because women are all too often vicious to each other. And since, unfortunately, being able to land a high-status partner is itself a sign of status in women, and being sought by many women is a sign of status in men, short guys are doubly out of luck (given that women are genetically driven to be attracted to taller men).

However, you're a human, and humans are thinking animals (however few of us choose to do so), so you don't need to be controlled by ancient instincts. Logically, there are going to be quite a few short guys out there who are excellent partners, and being overlooked by other women means you've got quite a number to choose from (although some, sadly, will have become very angry and embittered over being constantly rejected by women over something they have no control over; it's an unfortunate inevitability).

Will being a shorter guy make you the "man" of the relationship? No- just the taller one. So you have to bend down to kiss him- so what? What business is that of anyone else save the two of you?

Because some women are judgmental. Why do they care who someone else is into? If someone likes tall guys then greet. If someone likes shorter. Who the hell cares?


Some people like to judge OR they get jealous someone is in a happy relationship and they’re not.

My experience has been that it is guys that have an issue with it. I have posted many times on here how I like guys that are around my height (5'2) and guys lose their shit over it.
