Why does my coworker hate me? How can this situation be fixed?

I just joined a new company. The only person who helped me and befriended me was this one woman who I ended up starting to like. The other women noticed this and got jealous and began alienating her while befriending me. I distanced myself from her but tried to include her with the others. She stays away from me and the group. For a while she kept trying to be my friend but I still kept my distance and have gotten closer with the other women who bullied the original woman. I have now fully distanced myself from the original woman to avoid being hated by the others. Now she doesn’t try with me anymore and avoids me completely to the point that everyone on our team notices and makes comments. If I’m in the room, she literally leaves. She won’t make eye contact with me. If I try to enter conversations she is in, she ignores me completely.

Keep away from women under 30 in the office, they generally quite cliquee and worry about how they are perceived, stick to the older women they more fun and dont give a shit

You are between 30 and 35, i take it that the other women in the office are of similar if not younger age. You are having issues with how the office politics is now causing you problems which is also to do with these dynamics in the office. This is a common problem I and other people have encountered (regardless of gender) when working in an office environment, perhaps not enough to be always the case, its noticeable in that its the exception when it is not happening
