It's my first week here and we're together in this group. It's a group of 10 people. First time I met him, he seemed condescending. He asked me where I was from and I could see that he didn't like my answer. He asked me a lot of questions about my qualifications as well which seemed weird and kinda offensive as it sounded like he doubted how could I be allowed here. Our work is academic and we've to live nearby our workplace, in the housings they alott for us (we don't have to pay, it's solely sponsored). Next time I met him, he asked me about my building and all and insisted that I should have his phone number in case I need any help. Then he said that it must be difficult for me since I have never lived in a workplace housing like this before and also because I've never lived in a city before. It was said in a manner that I felt like he looked down upon me because I'm from a rural area. I met him again and he waved at me.
I know some people will say that I'm over thinking. But I am new here and I do want to understand what should I expect. Thank you.

Understand what? Some people are just assholes, nothing further to break down from that. The guy doesn't know you. Why would you care what he thinks? I would definitely stop giving him information about you, like any. I do it all the time.
Your work is "academic" but you can't ask your question with any semblance of proper spelling/grammar? Based on the context though, you're likely just overthinking it.
Oh, screw him. If he’s not your boss, don’t worry about what he thinks of you. You have a job to work, not worry about what others think of you.
