Interestingly, my guy friend (and no I've never "liked" him) got into a relationship with this girl 2 years ago. She is quite literally the nastiest person I've ever met. She bullies other girls until they cry, she plots behind people's backs, she sabotages girls she's jealous of, she's a compulsive liar and she likes to turn the people in her social circle against each other for her own entertainment by spreading lies. She is so toxic. She even told him to cut off his family and friends for her otherwise she would leave him. She also hits him when angry and confiscates his phone.
My guy-friend used to be a player, but he "changed" for this girl. She is his first real relationship because he liked her so much. Other girls who were nicer (and some better-looking and more his physical type), were interested in him. I know because he told me about them. He even had a model interested at one point. But he played them and committed to the one girl because he was "infatuated" by her. He also defends her nasty behaviour and her lies to escape accountability for it. It's like a cult where he's been brainwashed and manipulated. Why is my guy-friend so into this girl over all others who liked him when she's obviously not a good person and abuses him? I don't get it. I'm curious, is this a thing?
