Is my co-worker only in it for much needed attention?

Since a few months there has been someone new at the office (consultancy company). The first time she saw me she passed by and made a somewhat strange sound. Later on I introduced myself because we have to work together occasionally. A few days later we had to meet for the first time. When she passed by she touched my arm and smiled at me. Ever since she frequently sat next to me, talking to me, laughing with all my jokes, paying close attention to me. She doesn't always act like that, she also talks with other colleagues but she always looks at me wherever she is in the room. She even texted me once for a special occasion and she replied with a heart emoji to my reply. Two weeks ago she came in with another colleague, saw me and it seemed she was surprised to see me. She took a chair far away from me and didn't look at me once. She laughed though when I said something funny to the group but she didn't look at me. A couple days after that, she stared at me from the other side of the office and came to where I sat but didn't look at me. She was fidgetting with something that lied on the table while standing right in front of me but not looking at me at all. Only when I addressed her she looked at me with big open eyes and asked me how I was doing. After a short conversation she went away. I have seen her a few times since but she doesn't speak to me, not that she has to, but I notice she frequently walks in my line of sight. She has a boyfriend but it seems he does not meet up to all her expectations. Another colleague told me that. She also always mentioned her boyfriend all the time she was talking to me. Is she in it for the attention?
