Do you ladies feel a guy likes you or is flirting with you because he gives you a nice compliment?

I like to give compliments from the heart to the ladies when I see she's beautiful, or has nice hair, eyes or teeth but when I do it now they have a shock look on their face as if I'm trying to flirt or like them.

Some receive my compliments with a big smile and say thank you and others as they seen a ghost and don't know what to say which makes me feel uncomfortable. 🙄

I've had female coworkers bring out the "I have a boyfriend/husband" card if I so much as ask them how was their weekend ( yes , I am serious) or their Christmas break.

American society is still Puritanical at heart. We seem to misconstrue everything as flirting or wanting to get into someone's pants. I see this more with younger woman though. With older women they seem to be more graceful about small talk or any compliments.

I also think it is because American society has become colder and more distant so we don't know ow to take a compliment anymore. Everything is harassment now.

I have noticed that many old timers are good at taking and giving compliments. But they come from a time long before some mean spirited feminists decided that everything a man does is harassment and that is was their mission in life to ruin every man they can. This seems to be a thing with American women though. I have had plenty of conversations with French and Latin American women and they always seemed to be a lot nicer. Younger Americans don't seem to know how to have a conversation anymore (but they sure can take selfies though).

I have a teacher friend who tells me that the teenagers in his class don't even talk to each other anymore - all of them are glued to their phones. This is very telling I think.

Depends on the compliment itself. The more specific m, the more likely he likes you id guess

Yeah. I'd usually take it as flirting. Sometimes it can seem genuine without being flirty but it all depends on how the guy usually acts or treats me. Some people take compliments very well while others don't because of their own insecurities or low self esteem so that's probably the dynamic you're seeing between women who accept them vs women who seem shocked. I wouldn't think too hard on it.

Not necessarily. As I do the same when I see a handsome man or a male co worker has a nice new haircut, I’d say oooh look at you heartbreaker or look at you, Mr. Good looking. 🤣 it makes their day. It’s not flirting to me. It’s a genuine compliment.

No, I just see it as him being nice & friendly towards me. I never assume he's flirting. But I wouldn't be able to tell if someone was flirting with me anyway. lol
