In your description yes, I would identify that as a sign of disrespect. Not siding with someone in general however, does not necessarily mean its a sign of disrespect. For example, my best friends have done some really stupid things, as have I, and we've called each other out on our bullshxit multiple times. So sometimes, accountability can look like disrespect when it isn't, and vice versa. So its context is what determines if its disrespect, not simply not siding with someone.
Sometimes it's a respect problem, other times it's a jealousy problem. Other times; people are criticising them because they're genuinely in the wrong.

I don't know if that's the case with her, but really smart people will say things that most people don't understand, so they're perceived as stupid and get no respect. Until they do...
