Is this manipulative?

My mom told me as a teenager that if I want help from a man, I should dress cute and act coy to get what I want. I told her I thought that was manipulative, and she said that she didn’t think it was because she wasn’t implying that she wanted to have sex with them. I saw her employ this tactic a few times but never felt right about it. Is this wrong?

It depends on the guy’s personality. Some guys like subservient girls, while others prefer bold ones. I’m usually myself when it comes to guys I like. I try to strike a conversation with them and through that, I find out what they like and divert the conversation that way. By doing so, I can gauge two things:

1) the type of person he is

2) his likes and dislikes

Most people LOVE to talk whatever they’re passionate about, and they also like it when you listen to them and ask more questions without sounding nosey.

I’m pretty sure a friend of mine likes me. I like him too. I did not act coy. I was flirty, but in a subtle way and got to know him more.

You need not always take your mother’s advice. Just be yourself. How else would you know the type of guy who would complement your personality better? If you want any help, just be direct. I’ve asked this guy help numerous times and he has always tried his best to help me out, and I’ve done the same.

You can trade on cuteness and sexuality (not sex) if you want - but only if you are comfortable doing so. But if you do that, people will start to think that is all you have to offer, so I wouldn't recommend it

Yes it’s deceptive
