Changing profile pictures over and over is more of a sign if insecurity and body dysmorphia than narcissism.


A narcissist is more likely to assume they are perfect and not feel the need to change or adjust anything about themselves. If a person hypothetically was a clinical narcissist and was craving narcissistic supply through the internet it would make more sense for them to post extremely frequently on their newsfeed, seek positions of power/control, troll/create controversy for views/profit/sexually sadistic pleasures.


More accurate examples of online narcissistic behaviors include some power hungry Reddit moderators, Onision, Politicians, Tiktok controversy clout chasers, people with multiple anonymous accounts/bots for the purpose of trolling/spreading narratives, blue checkmark rumor spreaders on twitter, online scammers, website/app owners/admins etc.


You can’t make a clinical diagnosis based off someones internet activity though, people can display toxic, abusive and odd behaviors for a variety of underlying reasons, the word narcissist is vastly overused nowadays.

I'll agree that narcissist is vastly overused. But you can also see how the two (narcissism and insecurity closely mimic eachother). I. e. a woman or a man may say they're "shy" but they remain shy to gain attention. So are they really shy, are they really insecure? Or are they really just narcissistic. It's been my experience that most women that CLAIM to be shy are really just narcissistic. Because when you actually talk to them they have very little problem expressing themselves. Most the time they're just very strategic. Which is not shyness.

Honestly, it's usually more about insecurity than anything else. If she's changing her picture frequently it's probably because she doesn't like something about that picture, her feelings about it/herself have changed, or she's just looking for that validation from everyone liking and commenting on her photos.
