Were you cheated on or vice versa in the past? If so then that could contribute. Even when you think you’re over it sometimes the trauma seeps in.

That’s something for him to work on if so, but what he doesn’t want is to make her or any other woman pay for what someone else did in the form of insecurities and finger pointing. Fortunately his worries haven’t become tumultuous but it’s so easy for some to fall into that
