The question was volunteer. I have never asked a girl for her number. I have had gals just give me I'll say a number many many times but they never respond. Just one of many things women do to me that just doesn't make any sense to me.

You're 52, you're still a puppy. I assume you have a smartphone, but if not, you can get one at Walmart for $30.00.
Download one of the million chatting apps, and talk that way. You can do it via text, voice or even video chatting. If you get yourself a psycho, then block her. You can't do that with a phone number.
