I ask this because many guys have said that despite women saying they wouldn't mind if they cried, they've found that women didn't take them as seriously afterward. They say that women view them as weaker.
Men, do you share a similar experience? Or a different one?
I have never cried in front of women since I was a kid so I really don't have an accurate perspective to bring to this. Just wanting to hear other thoughts on this.
If you wanna believe what women tell you here trust me man you won't have the right answer cuz they themselves dont know it, ofc if he always cry like a baby over simole stuff its a turn off to any woman , but i suggest you in general to man up and never show your are weak to your partner she want a rock beside her a man that not every small peep affect him, if there are some traumas or serious things like death or whatever that happen better to go release in a place alone, trust me on this one brother , a woman can get turned off from things that they themselves are not aware of , so yeah ofc you can shade tears on some emotional stuff with her but not too often and never break in cry like a baby with her, she will see it as weakness, even tho she dont think so right now , in the moment her brain will explain this as weakness , so keep your frustrations and sorrow to yourself never break infront of her emotionally , that my honest suggestion and i will be called many things here lol i dont give a fuck , i suggest you to take my advise if you are smart
This for me is more about understanding the way that people think. If I want to know the truth, I really don't value self-report highly as a determining factor at all. It will always be anecdotal support.
Well you gonna find for yourself in the end so yeah , woman say they want a man who open up emotionally and burst in tears tho they are not aware of the feeling that they will feel when this happen, over time they will see him as a weak male and someone who not able to be there for them when they wanna burst in tears , its somthing more wired in the female brain , just like a man see a woman who have a masculine traits as a turn off its the same for woman

I used to know a lady who told me that she lost respect for her former boyfriend, after he cried when she emotionally abused him. Well, she emotionally abused him. Why was she doing THAT? Funny thing that she was a licensed clinical social worker. I would think she would know better.

I would feel bad for them, and assuming I know them, I would just want to hug them and make it all better.

I was shortly dating this guy who snored.
And I couldn't sleep because of it. I tried so much. I tried to listen to music with ear buds, all kinds of types. Didn't help.
In the end I decided to move to my couch and I finally fell asleep.
A few hours later he woke up and saw me on the couch.
And essentially, I woke up as well, and he told me he felt bad that I wasn't sleeping in the bed as well.
I told him it was the only option for me to sleep, it was no big deal.
And he ended up crying...
I ended up back in the bed and he kept himself awake until I fell asleep before he dosed off...
That was a bit too much for me.
Did he ever say why he cried? Maybe there was a deeper reason?
He just said it was because I didn't sleep on the bed

I do want to mention it wasn't the reason why it didn't last. Just thought it was weird to cry about it.
I also had a close male friend cry in front of me because I talked about some things I did, neglilecting my own feelings, and it hit a spot in him, as he has had some rough struggles and didn't want me to experience the same as he did.
I ended up giving him the biggest hug, and we talked about it.
No respect or anything were lost.

First off, the idea that men can’t cry is incredibly sexist. Men are human too and therefore can have emotions that aren’t anger or happiness. Secondly, for the men who aren’t afraid to show their tears, I commend them for being able to negate the feeling/fear of being judged by others. Who am I to judge someone for crying when I almost had a stress induced melt down yesterday at work? I do not care if you cry in front of me so long as it’s not about every little thing (for example, like if you started crying cause you tripped and didn’t even get a scrape and started crying).

Nope. I have no issue with this. I can be pretty emotional and have cried in public before, so I definitely wouldn't judge a guy for crying in front of me. The only time this would make me uncomfortable is if I didn't know him very well/wasn't close with him and he was for some reason treating us like we were close/over sharing. I get why that happens, so I generally try not to judge people too much, but it's definitely uncomfortable and usually a sign of emotional immaturity/a lack of boundaries.
What you are supposed to say is "no I like guys who are open with their emotions" but my honest answer is, "it depends," what I mean by that is, I would lose respect for a guy above the age of 15 who cried about losing a game, or a guy who cried about someone being rude to him, or a guy who cried about learning he didn't get a promotion at work or get a good enough grade in class. I would not lose respect for a guy who cried about a family member dying or having some kind of major problem, or a guy who cried about his longtime girlfriend breaking up w him, for example. I am sorry if any of this sounds mean, I am being honest and it isn't really a conscious decision I am making. JMO!

Depends, because anyone will loose respect for a person crying over shallow matters. Women are given more leniency as they are known to be more emotional. But women too, will be judged and people will respect them less if they keep crying and overreacting.
But when my husband is stressed out, grieving or telling me about something thats weighing heavy on his heart, I love him even more for coming to me and finding comfort and peace in me. It builds connection and depth. Crying is also a healthy outlet. Id rather him let it all out and feel better. Cause I actually care for his wellbeing, like you know, a wife should 😅
If your partner can't handle you crying, is she really the person you want raising your kids? isn't your mental wellbeing better than being with someone that shallow?

Not for crying, no. Idc if I don't understand why, or if I wouldn't cry for the same reason. Tho tbh it's prolly bc my dad cries pretty easy so I early on, saw a man I respected cry and not lose any respect from people around him. He didn't keep friends who would judge him for that, & my mom ofc didn't—tho she was a radical feminist so she didn't hold that mysoginistic standard for men in the first place.
Plus my husband had a dad who never cried in front of him, and now he fucking disassociates if anyone including himself cries. It's sick and I don't want to make any man feel like he has to leave his fucking body just to cry. We're working on it but honestly it's a lot. I still don't think I've ever heard him make noise when he cries. Don't think I've ever even seen his face change. But at least now he can breathe when it happens, and move, and sometimes speak. Okay so men have different prominent hormones than women. But life happens. Why would I judge a man for crying? That makes no sense. It makes me feel more connected to him in a way. But if he is crying about his ex or what Doja Cat said to her fans, then I’m run fast and I run far.

You shouldn't be shy or embarrassed about crying in front of your significant other. They are there for you as support, as words of wisdom, as comfort, as an advice giver. This is the person who is supposed to love you and care about you for who you are no matter what because you chose them and they chose you. If they can't do that, then they're not the one for you.
I think it depends on the situation. If it's actually because of something sad I don't care. If there's a good reason I don't mind.
But some men use it as a form of manipulation and if they do I will lose respect.
Personally I see it as the makings of a real man... One who can show his true feelings and emotions.

I think there is a limit. I cried a lot infront of one of my girlfriends and she was the most loyal girl I’ve ever had. I think she liked knowing I was being authentic and vulnerable with her. But don’t do it all the time…at the end of the day, someone has to be the strong one. And definitely don’t do it if she is not in a strong place

I feel so sad for you after seeing this opinion. My boyfriend and I have been dating for 6 months and he cried on my shoulder on our first intimate days, even before we started dating officially. He still cries between my arms. I hold him, I hug him and tell everything would be okay. Obviously this guy is not in my friend zone, once again, he is now my boyfriend. It is not about tears, it is about whom you cry with. Of course you won't cry in front of your one-night stand, that's not normal behavior so they will of course run, what do you expect?
It's normal to be weak at times. What matters is how he copes with what is causing him to cry later down the road. I wouldn't lose respect, however I would be awkward about it as I'm not able to comfort people very well.

This really just depends. I'm glad to help them though whatever they're going through but if they are in the wrong and they're acting like a victim in the situation, I'll lose respect, plain and simple.
