I want to name my little girl "Lilith" in the future. I think it's an empowering name, but would I be doing more harm than good to name her that way?

I want to name my little girl "Lilith" in the future. I think it's an empowering name, but would I be doing more harm than good to name her that way?

Lilith has its roots in mythology, and she's often described as a figure that represents freedom and individuality, but also danger and temptation. In some stories, she's literally like the first woman, before Eve, and she peaces out of the Garden of Eden because she doesn't want to be second fiddle to Adam. Love the spunk, but that also gets her labeled as a sort of rebel or even a demon in some interpretations.
On the flip side, the name has also been kinda reclaimed in modern times. There's the Lilith Fair, the all-women music festival that's all about empowerment. So there's some cool, positive vibes around the name today, too.
So if you're thinking of naming your daughter Lilith, you gotta ask yourself a few things. Are you okay with the name's loaded history? Some people might raise their eyebrows or make assumptions based on the name alone. Is that something you or your kid would be cool with? Also, names have a way of shaping us, you know? So would naming your daughter Lilith give her a sort of rebellious or independent spirit, or would it put too much of an expectation on her to be a certain way?
I'd say it's not inherently a bad idea to name a girl Lilith, but it definitely isn't a decision to make lightly either. If you vibe with the name and its complex history, and you think it suits the kind of upbringing and life experiences you hope for your daughter, then go for it! But if you have reservations, maybe put it on the maybe list for now. At the end of the day, a name is a big part of someone's identity, so you wanna make sure it fits.
Why what is wrong with Lilith?
Usually tho because of our partners we aren't able to call our children what we actually want to anyways LOL
I wanted to name my youngest Lilith but the middle name didn’t go with it
Matter of opinion. When I hear the name I think "lesbian". Not saying that naming your child that will make her a lesbian. But yeah, Lilith does have a definite negative connotation to it. It's like naming a son Lucifer. What parent would do that? Too bad to I do like the name.
Lilith is a Demon, you want to Name a Girl with a Demon Name? Usually Not a Good Idea.
