Girls, Is it fine for a shy guy to fake confidence to ask you out?

If a man that is clearly shy/timid, would it be cute? Fumbling over his words nervously, he tries to compliment you, and ask for your number. Would you give this kind of guy your number or not?

there's nothing fake if you just asked for the number. It automatically shows that you are confident enough to just ask her.

Also if the girl finds out or you do tell her that your fake being confident at first meeting, then to me that kills the whole vibe of who you are, it’s like what else can you be fake or had lied about…

If you asked for my number then you found the courage to ask for it. I don't think that is "faking" having confidence. I also happen to think that shy guys are sometimes more adorable than the overly confidant ones who can sometimes come across as pushy and arrogant.

I've run into a guy who was so shy that he avoided the girl he liked. That's pretty weird behavior to show the person you like, if you ask me. So I wouldn't fake too much, because at the end of the day it's just a play that you do. It's not the real you. If you really want to find somebody who likes you for you, you be yourself. I don't believe in faking it until you make it, not in this situation.
Mine was too shy to make the first move, I ended up asking him out first.

I find this super cute and it brings out the top in me.

Though there is a limit. It's fine to be a bit hesitant and scared, but it can get annoying if fear is the foremost expression.
