Let me preface with the fact that we are coworkers, but he's leaving at the end of the month.

I've got a crush on my coworker but he's very shy. We only have a limited daily interaction, different departments, but I'm kinda smitten. Since he's shy, but again so am I, curious the best route to ask him out. Don't tell to not date a co-worker, like I said, he's leaving at the end of the month.

Well in this situation one thing you can say is something like: Before you get busy with the job change and we forget, let's exchange phone numbers so we can stay in touch. And you can see how he reacts, if he likes you, I would think he would text or something.

The second idea I have would be, do you have any mutual friends? Do you know for sure he is single? If you have mutual friends, they can talk to him for you and find out if he is single and maybe ask what he thinks about you.

Tell him you're sorry to see him go and you feel bad for not talking to him that much and tell him you'd like to make it up to him and ask him for coffee. Then when you're at the coffee shop, flirt with him a little. If he's still too shy, make the first move. His being shy, he'll appreciate that. Trust me! I know about that one a little too well! Find a commonality between you and invite him to it. And don't call it a date! This way it doesn't put pressure or ex o wctations on either of you.

I remember once a girl I liked asked me out. We both were Chicago Bulls fans, and liked Michael Jordan. She asked if I wanted to go see the movie "Space Jam" with her. I knew she was asking me on a date, but nobody called it a date. So it was easier on both of us. We cleay liked eachother and eachother's company.
