I'm a slim girl but nowadays I realize that most of the guys like thick girls as a new standard of beauty. How did it start? Why is being ''thick'' beautiful?
The concept of beauty is fluid, changing across cultures and eras based on a variety of socio-cultural, economic, and historical factors. Historically, fuller figures were often associated with health, fertility, and prosperity. Over the past few decades, with the rise of the fashion and media industries, a slimmer aesthetic became dominant in many cultures. However, several factors have recently influenced the re-emergence of appreciation for "thick" or curvier body types:
Social Media & Influencers: Platforms like Instagram have allowed diverse body types to be celebrated. Influencers like Kim Kardashian and Nicki Minaj have popularized curvier aesthetics.
Body Positivity Movement: This grassroots movement promotes acceptance of all body types and challenges conventional beauty standards.
Cultural Shifts: Globalization brings exposure to diverse beauty standards from different cultures, many of which have historically celebrated curvier figures.
Pushback against Unrealistic Standards: After years of extremely thin models dominating media, there's been a societal pushback advocating for more realistic and diverse body representations.
In essence, evolving beauty standards reflect a complex interplay of societal values, media influence, and individual empowerment. Still, it's crucial to remember that no single "standard" defines beauty. Diversity and individuality remain essential.

This is nothing new. You can see it clearly even with Marilyn Monroe who was a curvier woman and she was the literal standard of beauty. Most white women don’t even look like that and she’s still been the standard of beauty in her lifetime and decades after her death. If you look back in that era at the women, they weren’t necessarily thin either, having a little curve was seen as more attractive.
The reason why it’s more popular now is because most women aren’t naturally skinny, there are a lot more thicker and curvier women in the world and it’s being embraced more. Excuse my comparison, but the standard of beauty used to be almost exclusively white women and white women tend to be more skinnier on average. It’s now shifted as more women of color are standards of beauty and in other races the women are thicker.
Slim is definitely still in don’t worry, but not in every industry like it was before. Skinny is still the standard for modeling and high fashion industries, though. That’ll probably never change.
The early 2000’s was all about being slim enough to see your ribs and hips through your skin. This encouraged eating disorders, I specifically remember reading an article praising the Olsen twins for their new diets, evident by how you could count the ribs along their spine in their backless dresses. It was a horrible time to be any kind of “big” and it wasn’t exactly comfortable either. I think what happened is we moved past the point of “I want to be skinny” to “I want to be healthy” and being thicc is a bit closer to being a healthy weight even though not everyone can get that perfect bubble butt or voluptuous chest while keeping a relatively flat stomach. It’s still that idealized hourglass shape for women, just with more realistic expectations in my opinion
I want to say thick women have always been desired. In different eras being “thick” and large was a sign of high wealth and status not to mention biology points towards curviness or “thickness” as a sign of good health to bare children.
We’ve always been obsessed with butts but in order to have a big one you had to be thick and curvy. So many songs in the 80s were about ass but by the early 90s hip hop culture was becoming more prominent thus songs like ‘Baby Got Back’ shared what men liked without shame, Sir Mix a Lot literally refused to lie about it. There were a bunch of curvy women who couldn’t get the 80s fitness bod during the home workout era so the song was a bit of a thick girl anthem and made big butts accepted. Time went on and we got Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé and a few other artists shaking their shelves on TV and then Kim K said “hold my beer” and made a show where we can stare at her fart box all day. You can probably deduce how much media has informed our taste but it’s not like non thick girls aren’t desired, I think women were initially afraid to have big butts so heroes like Sir Mix a Lot had to step up and say “ladies, please don’t get rid of that ass, we love it”. Hope this helps.
I think it's a bunch of things, the biggest one being because woman work now. Back in the day, if your woman looked like she had to work it wasn't exactly a great look for you status-wise. Even poor men who managed to make enough for their wives to raise the kids were looked at as higher status. So it stands to reason that the beauty standard would lean more towards woman who achieved a certain look (which was largely pushed onto them by the fashion industry.
The more woman began working. All of a sudden these woman from farms in Mexico, DR, Ecuador, Colombia etc. started popping up here with their bodies which were toned from living a healthy lifestyle compared to just sitting around all day. Or trying to achieve this toothpick look.

I don’t know what you exactly mean in thick but if that means curvy, they have always been in style.
Once I was in the hospital in China, passed by emergency department. Even the “dying” men look at your ass.
Okay, not dying, but as long as he’s got the energy to check out that ass, you know he’ll live another day.
This is what I imagine when I hear the word thick
I'm not into it. I prefer slender to medium thighs (not skinny) and a waist to hip ratio of around 0.7
My idea of the feminine ideal is more like this:There is thick, and then there is thicc... As in curvy. Today's standards people see sexy as (big ass and tits, slim waist), which are things that you ig notice in sexual stuff. When you are fucking you like annass to grab or boobs to grab or whatever. Sorry I'm too explicit lmao, but point is, sexy different from back in the day. Back in the day modesty was the thing. Because finding a good girl was the thing praised most in society. Nowadays the toxic society praises going naked and acting as it is freedom, or fuckin as many girls as you can, or finding suger mommy or daddy, No. None of these are right. Beauty wise slim is right. Sexy wise its slim thicc (curvy).
So as a Slim girl, own it!! Guys like that. Use your personality to charm, not body
Weight in the right places is sexy. All the curves in the right places.
Some men may also find thicker women easier to lock down because being thick has limited their options. Having limited options can cause thick women to be more overt in their pursuit of an attractive man thereby making it easier on the man to date her.
Beautiful, thin women are always being objectified, sought after buy more men than she can count and must make men work to prove he is worthy of her emotional investment and won’t get dumped once he grows tired of her. Beautiful, thin women most likely will choose attractive well to do men who also have more women chasing him than he can count to choose from.Don’t think it’s new. Just that society is becoming more inclusive, and the media responsible for reinforcing our collective idealism is changing to become more able to acknowledge there’s a lot more beautiful women out there than just Barbie. I love the comment, ‘even the ‘dying’ men look at your ass’. For guys, it’s biology. But it’s not just thick women. I mean, I know Tony Soprano made it cool to be short, fat and balding, but have you seen all the older men, dad-bod references out there? Still, it’s important to say that there is no universal type. For men who love women, slim girls are hot too! 😉
It is cyclical. There are times when fuller-figured is seen as "better" and others where super slim is. But even during those times, there are guys who do not care or who prefer the opposite of what the majority likes.
https://theconversation.com/womens-idealised-bodies-have-changed-dramatically-over-time-but-are-standards-becoming-more-unattainable-64936The more important question is why do you follow fads? You have a bunch of gay pedophiles setting the trends and telling you how to act, but you want the attention of straight men. You really think you're taking your cues from the right people?
There will always be body types that are “trending.”
soon slimmer body types will be considered more attractive again. It’s already happening since the y2k style is coming back.
Women like the Kardashians are starting to reverse their BBL procedures.Give it a few more years and I’m sure being slim with a small butt will be the desirable body type again.
Then years after that, what’s trending will be different again.Men like to see an hourglass figure no matter what the size of that woman is. She can be petite or plus size. If her curves are in the right places, men will look, cat call, holler, drive or walk into a post, or will tell you exactly what they thinking.
Probably due to how diverse the country is getting, which means influences from other cultures. By the same token, I have always preferred "thick" girls, so it's also just what a lot of guys are naturally into. Not all men, but it's probably split 50/50.
However, it's definitely not the new standard, but instead a new standard. Plenty of women are still going to be insecure over their bodies because they feel they're not skinny enough.Sadly, because, overweight and obesity are so common, that there is a movement to 'normalize' the 'problem of being overweight.
I see ads on TV for different kinds of medication for diabetes and many other problems associated with overweight, and the participants in the ads are huge!
Really disgusting to see the media wants to 'normalize' obesity.
It has always been that way since history and even prehistory. Thickness or subcutaneous fat and curvaceousness signifies sexual fitness. Fat is an insurance against starvation. Wide hips means easy childbirth, and bigger breasts means more milk for the baby. So you're eating well, you're storing the food reserves well, and you are able to convert it into milk and easily give birth to a child who will drink the milk.
It's a thing that has changed through time. It's something that fluctuates often through time I guess. There is biology at play as well I believe I know certain aspects of bodies suggest things like fertility. For men at times being overweight has in odd ways been attractive as well it suggests the ability to provide for ones family. There are many reasons why. But the main one at the moment is the media. They have there views on beauty and it spreads everywhere they reach. And as more see it and women then start to feel they aren't attractive as they are they want to become what is the in thing I guess and that just compounds the whole thing.
I hope I've made sense here. It's not new, it's been that way for a long time. Look at Marilyn monroe, she was thick. Her body type is still just as popular today as it was back then.
"I realize that most of the guys like thick girls as a new standard of beauty." Not true. That is simply the narrative being pushed by woke/PC media. The don't speak for guys.
"How did it start?" See above.
"Why is being ''thick'' beautiful?" It isn't. For most of us, "thick" is just a new code word for chubby.
Thick meaning curvy. That’s always been what a lot of men like. I don’t mean the girls w hourglass figures w saddlebags for an ass. I like women like Salma Hayek. This is nothing new. Maybe a lot more men are coming out about what they like w out feeling ashamed about it like in the past. Another girl I like Ashley Graham, Marleny1. Yes her ass is a little more on the bigger side but I wouldn’t kick her out of bed.
Men have always liked what they liked. No matter whats in style that won't change. Same with women. Feminine men are in now but straight women want masculine men.
I'd guess its biology. A woman with curves (not fat) shows she has hips to give birth and breast to breastfeed a baby.
It’s about body inclusion and diversity. Thick girls used to grouped into fat since they weren’t a size zero now it’s healthy normal body curvy body. If a healthy weight might give a size 13 it be labeled as plus size but it’s about body acceptance not normalizing obesity.
Thick is not the new standard. Curvy has always been sought after, but a lot of women today try and use the two terms interchangeably, and they are very different things. You can be thick and have very few curves. You can have rolls or layers of fat which have a certain number of curves to them, but that's neither curvy nor voluptuous; the latter two things involve proportion.
because thick girls usually have it all.
obviously we men dont like fat women but we dont like skinny dog bones either. thick girls are always fat in the right places, they carry move of their weight in their hips, ass and thighs and that is the area that makes women more attractive. aside from this thick women also have enough weight to have big boobs as well.
all of the above with less of it in their belly aka the place where is most repulsing.
