When my mom is mad at me she gives me the silent treatment and responds to my “love you!” texts with “luv you” and it really hurts. Am I overthinking?

That sucks, I can see why that would hurt. Parents can be brutal with the silent treatment. But honestly it doesn't sound like you're overthinking it - your feelings are valid. When someone you love is mad and pulls away like that, it messes with your head.

A few things you could try:

- Give her some space to chill for now, but then have an honest talk about how the silent treatment makes you feel. Use "I feel" statements, not accusations.

- Next time she hits you with the "luv" instead of "love", jokingly call her out like "oooh just 'luv', am I still in trouble?" Try to lighten the mood a bit.

- Remind her in a respectful way that you're still her kid - she can be mad but total silent treatment is harsh. You just wanna feel close to your mom.

- Do something nice for her like her fave snack to show you wanna make up. Moms have a soft spot sometimes!

Don't let it get to you too much. Parents just show emotions differently sometimes. I'm sure deep down she does love you, she's probably not even realizing how it makes you feel. Communicate that and it'll get better!

She’s extremely mean and prioritized her boyfriends growing up and left me at home by myself and also xenophobic and racist. Like she’s very white supremacist and it’s uncomfortable.
