Why does so many black women wear wigs?

Curly hair requires high maintenance. High maintenance means more stress on the scalp, and less hair growth. It gotta stay moisturized because the hair is allergic to dryness and cause breakage, So wearing a wig, and having protective hairstyles, means the scalp doesn’t get stressed, doesn’t hinder hair growth, and it doesn’t require high maintenance everyday. High maintenance anything is expensive.


Opposite to straight hair, they could run water only through their scalp and they’re good. They don’t even have to style it, let it down or put it in a ponytail. They don’t have to moisturize as much and straight is naturally oily. Non coil hair, or People with straight hair can’t even tolerate protective hair style and braids. A little braid, they go red/pink has massive headaches, and that braids would be out by the end of day, or the next day. While the black woman has to keep that braid for at least a month.

Because Black women have hair that's very challenging to style and coif. That's why I always compliment the beautiful Nubian Goddesses I know on their hairstyles, whatever they may be, and if I'm fortunate enough to have the privilege of paying for her next beauty salon visit, all the better.
