There are a few reasons! Maybe he recognizes you from somewhere else, or maybe he just finds you approachable. It could also be that he's shy and only works up the nerve to say hi to one person at a time. The gym isn't always the best place for chatting, so he might be waiting for a chance to talk when you're not both working out. If you're interested, a friendly smile or a "hi" back never hurts!

I don't see it as a turn off. Personally for me, I desire to be with a man that could provide for the family. What's his spending habits like, credit score, gambling/addiction problems... etc.

I want him at a job that protects his mind and spirit. But his income is not a huge point.
