Friend of mine wants to makeout with a boy / boys to get over her ex, she asked for my opinion, I said it wouldn’t be the best idea, am I right?

one of my close friends got dumped in December by her boyfriend, hurt her real bad. it’s been 4 months and she tells me she still thinks of him everyday, cries herself to sleep and constantly talks about him (she’s not over him and still wants him back).

recently we went out partying more and guys have asked her to makeout, she's rejected the offers and hasn’t done it yet but she says she wants to get over her ex but doesn’t know if it’ll be a good idea (even though she really wants to). she’s a bit boy obsessed these months, to the point every guy that she talks to she wonders if they’ve liked her latest instagram post or if they’re looking at her in public (even randos).

i told her i personally don’t think it’s a good idea, since i know she’s extremely insecure and looks for male approval constantly and also she regrets things easily. i can’t control her life but i feel like she’d feel worse after the high of making out drunk at a party or with some random guy on a Thursday afternoon, since, she’s still not over her ex.

do you think i’m right or wrong?

I think you are right. At the end of the day, she will be right back where she is. Empty and alone. That is a temporary fix only.
