Why is my friend incapable of supporting me on social media?

I’m in this friendship group it’s me and this other girl. I have noticed that of the girls in the friendship group, Emily always likes and supports my other friends posts, but she never ever likes anything I post. I see that she is always active and online and she is always reacting to the other girls post with a love heart but she ignores mine. I know she sees mine too because she views all my stories I post. She also makes comments about what I post in person like “I keep seeing you going out on nights out and I don’t know how you manage to do that and function at work the next day. I couldn’t do that” except the other girl in the friendship group posts night out photos and she has no issue liking her photos and supporting her, and commenting nice things on her photos.

The other day I uploaded a photo of me on my birthday and she couldn’t bring herself to like my birthday post, even though when it was the other girls birthday she hearted her photo and commented “gorgeous girl”. Then she messaged me privately about the photo I uploaded saying “I saw your birthday post you look nice happy birthday” but she couldn’t even support me with it on social media.

Why can’t she ever bring herself to like my post but can like the other girls post easily?

That is super weird what Emily is doing. I would honestly feel really hurt and left out if my friend was supporting everyone else's social media but always ignoring mine. A few thoughts on why she might be doing it:

- Jealousy - Maybe she's low key jealous of you or some of the attention you get online and this is her subtle way of not helping boost your posts.

- Favoritism - For whatever reason she clearly plays favorites with the other friend over you and wants to hype her up more publicly.

- Drama - Could be a personal issue between you guys that she's avoiding bringing to light by not engaging.

- Lazy - Though that doesn't explain liking others but not you.

I'd ask her about it directly just so you know where you stand. Like "I've noticed you never like my stuff but always do the others. Is everything ok between us or what's up with that?" See how she responds. If she still acts sketchy after confronting her, you might need to reevaluate how good a friend she really is. You deserve to have your friends support you just as much as the others, no question!

When Facebook used to allow limited profile, I had a friend who blocked me from viewing her friends list cause a guy on her friends list was on a campaign to ruin my reputation with our high school group. I don't blame her for wanting to protect herself while this drama was happening between me and the other guy. She is no longer in contact with that other guy and if he is normal, he should have forgotten about our differences by now.

I have limited SocMed for work and as a result my friends tend to be "followers" yet none of them really looks at things that are posted or "like" them. Why? Because we see one another IN REAL LIFE and talk about the things in person. There's no reason to then chase one another on SocMed. Put the apps down and go get a life.
