I've noticed a girl who looks at me many times, but as soon as she realizes I'm about to catch her gaze, she quickly turns her head away to her friends which is walking next to her, as if she's asking them something or listening to them.

These are always in my opinion classic overthinking. Not every little thing a person does means anything. She does after all have to look somewhere, right? This particular question which is asked all the time here about girls looking at guys is one of my favorites. Here is why. You were looking at her too. If you weren't then how would you know she was looking at you? See how that works? You were doing it equally as much. Perhaps she is thinking along the lines of why does this guy keep staring at me and that is why she is looking at you all the time. She keeps noticing you looking at her. So don't take it to mean anything deep because in reality it most of the time means absolutely nothing.

That could be very significant. She may like you. Or she may notice the unique shirt you're wearing, or maybe your zipper is open. Try not to read something into this. There is most likely a simple explanation that has no significant meaning.
