Why do women lie about how beautiful other women are and doesn't this hurt all women in the end?

Selena Gomez talked about how there is no downside to pretty privilege and this tik toker took it personally and thought she had to teach Selena Gomez about what the actual pretty women go through.

In show business people specifically get picked for their looks, everybody knows this. It doesn't mean you have to find every celebrity attractive but you should understand there are levels to this.

So I just wanna ask do women hype other women up because they just don't want to be the negative friend that nobody wants to be around? Or do they do it to intentionally feed the delusions of other women and contribute to their bad decisions? Because clearly this woman has a bunch of friends who tell her she's just as attractive as celebrities.

My ex girlfriend told me that women would always compliment her fashion even though she was wearing excentric clothes that would not appeal to most people.

And in the end isn't this detrimental to all women? Because they it's difficult to be self aware and have an accurate image of where you stand. Therefore it's difficult to make realistic decisions?

It's closer to the latter one.

First off you have to understand that men and women do not think alike. There's this video I watched the other day where there was 5 women. And the women were asked to put themselves in order of attractiveness. Then afterwards as a twist they brought in a panel of guys and had the guys put them in order of attractiveness. And the results were VERY DIFFERENT between the two genders. Let me also say I think it's worth noting that the women took much longer, discussed it, and didn't fully agree. While the men for the most part was decided fairly quickly and they were almost in complete agreement.

I think the takeaway from this is that women trivialize this question it's NOT as simple as a question of attractiveness to a woman. But to a guy it is much more. Not completely, but much more.

I’m not so sure that they’re always lying to each other. Women tend to look at each other through a different lens than men. As men we tend to look at women as would we sleep w her or not. If we won’t than she’s not what we’d consider beautiful. Women I think look at each other differently. They may think a girl is really gorgeous. Maybe because she’s got clean skin, beautiful eyes, whatever the case may be. Some women lie to each other yes, but I think it’s to spare a girl’s feelings. Like I said I think for men it’s simple. Will I sleep w her or not? If the answer is no than we probably don’t find them beautiful, at least descent looking.

Looks is subjective. Just because you don't find someone attractive, doesn't mean everyone agrees with you. Secondly, they might want to make someone feel better or boost their confidence, if that person has low self-esteem, whereas men don't do that

Girls usually compliment other girls that they don't really see as beauty rivals lol. If she's getting more attention than them or they feel threatened somehow then it changes. That's just the truth.

So you're saying if you're getting a lot of compliments from other women it's a bad thing because it means they see you as beneath them?

Not always, and it doesn't necessarily mean the person receiving the compliments are ugly either. Just maybe average or kind of pretty.

A lot of girls don't compliment women they think are more attractive than them. If you ever heard of girls getting bitchy looks from other girls out of nowhere it's usually out of jealousy, being competitive etc.

It's not all girls of course but enough to make this comment

@Malwi93 Well a guy could want something from you or he could not want to piss you off or he's just being friendly. Most people will lean towards saying a woman is prettier than she really is rather than the opposite. Some guys will say you're the prettiest woman in the world and then dip after sex, they didn't really believe what they were saying. So it's not an objective way to judge your own attractiveness :)
