They aren't lying. Double Blind Studies show if a man makes more money then a woman will rate his looks 2 or 3 points better on a scale of 1 to 10. So a woman honest to God cares more about money than she does the sex appeal of the man.

Whereas when a man rates a woman's looks, he couldn't give a rat's ass how much money she makes. Hot is Hot and not is not.

No, looks aren't the first level of attraction, being attracted to someone is determined by various factors, not just looks. Let's twist this a little bit so you get my point. If someone is gorgeous looking but they are rather boring or don't know how to keep a convo going or are just dumb, I wouldn't feel attracted to them. On the contrary if someone is considered average looking by societal standards and I feel a connection with that person, then that's gonna be on all levels, physical, and emotional and sexual. If a girl rejects you and you don't know the reason that might not necessarily be because of your looks, she might find you attractive looks wise, but not attractive personality wise, or she might find you attractive personality wise but not be attracted to you look wise. Still doesn't make looks the only determinant. We need to be fully attracted to someone in order to be with them, otherwise what's the point. But what many people fail to realize is that being attracted to someone does not mean that person has to be attractive according to societal standards. Those are two different things. If someone finds you attractive then that's their personal taste, and this differs from a person to another.
