And for girls, do you expect your man to open the door for you?
Do guys still open the door for girl?
And for girls, do you expect your man to open the door for you?
In general, if I get to a door and someone is behind me or someone is waiting to enter or exit, I hold the door open for them.
I've never had a woman give me shit about that, but a few just walk though without saying thank you. Most men and women are nice and say thank you, though. There is still such a thing as manners.
With an SO, I always walk ahead that the last minute, open doors, and allow them to enter first. It's a gentlemanly habit.
I have to say that I rarely open car doors for women unless we both approach the passenger side at the same time or they are carrying something.
I have almost never have gotten out of a car and walked around to the passenger side to open a door for a women and helped her exit. They know how to get in and out of a car. They do it when they are driving their own car. I never knew a woman who sat there and waited for me to do that. They just get out.
But there have been a few special occasions when we were going to an event and she was dressed to the nines. I do that to make her feel special and so that she can be proud when other people see her being treated like an elegant lady.
I do, but I also don't pretend that men and women are "equal" in all ways. And, yes, a few times I've had feminists scream at me for holding a door, and so I absolutely understand why a lot of men refuse to open doors for women. The difference is that I'm not going to let a woman change the way I think or act.
What men have a problem with is women who want things BOTH WAYS. That doesn't fly. You either believe in gender roles (and you take responsibility for yours), or you believe it total equality, in which case you should never ever expect chivalrous treatment. It's one or the other, because they are opposing ideologies, and if you pick one, then you'd better not complain about not getting the benefits of the other.
I don't expect it, but I low-key have way more respect for guys who do! My fiancé opened the door for me on our first date, and even though (for safety reasons) I drove myself to dates, after dinner he walked me to my Jeep, and when I unlocked it with the fob, he opened my door for me. I think chivalry is not dead, it’s just on life support. But there are still good men out there who will be a gentleman and open the door for a woman. I like it, although I don't think less of a man for not doing it, I do think higher of him id he does! It's like extra credit, you don't get points taken off your grade for not doing extra credit, you just do get extra points FOR doing it!
Thank you so much for the MHO, @itsannalee
Sincerely Laura 🤗 🥰
Thankfully the stupidity surrounding this topic has not reached my area. Maybe 1% are arses about a door. Both genders hold the door for each other, same genders, etc. They even all say thank you. It's that 1% that get loudly called out.
If you are talking about doors in general and not on a date and a vehicle door.
I watched some reels video that women got upset or don’t even get out/or get in the car just because their man forget to open the door for them. Was curious if that really happen in the RL.
That's sad. They should be grateful that's all they have to be mad at. lol I've seen it, but again, they get called out and embarrassed.
Thank you for mho

Yes. But I think it has a lot to do with the part of the country I live in, which is middle Tennessee. Men of all ages, races, and apparent walks of life (based on their clothing/style) will hold the door for me (a 30-something woman), and they also do it for teenagers and old ladies. I think it's a southern culture thing. I don't have it happen so much when I have visited places like California and Detroit.
Well, it could be the area I live in, but guys open doors for me. My ex did it all the time and disliked when I touched any door before him (including the car door). It is nice, and I like it. Chivalry is not dead. 😊
It is not just me.
Guys open door for women here in general…
I open the door for everyone men, women, elderly, children etc. And likewise everyone else also holds the door open for other people it's just a common thing down here.
How about car?
I will hold a door open for anyone who appears to need the help, male sex or female sex. I will check behind me to see if anyone is following me, and will hold a door open if they are a reasonably close distance behind me. I appreciate- but never expect- when others show the same consideration.
A car door? No. A door to a business or venue? All the time. I always smile and say thank you.
LOL we are Canadian everybody opens the door for you. As for car doors, I never had a guy do that for me before.
Why would i open the door for her? Am i a doorman?
If a girl waits for me to open the door than she's going to be left in the car the whole night 🤣🤣
You girls always expect something from a man, what shall we expect from you? 🤔
Expect? No!
I love it and says thank you with whoever does.
I do, out of force of habit. But the lack of acknowledgement a lot of women give makes it tough to want to continue to.
I've held doors open for people for many years.
I do. If she's one of mine I make sure to open the door for her. I don't do it for random girls though. I will make an exception for elderly women though.
I do, whenever I can, but I can't speak for all, or even most, guys.
ABSOLUTELY!! BEST way to meet and strike up a convo!! You'd be a FOOL not to simply out of self interest!!
I don't expect anyone to open the door for me, but it happens fairly often 😅
I imagine it is something that is not done much anymore. I still do it.
yeah... I've done it
when they forget the keys
lmao
@IslaTheWitch I'm a helpful one (=
Yeah I make a point of opening/holding doors for everybody
I hold doors as a courtesy to anyone and everyone… except those who expect it or bitch about it.
Yes for my girl as well as the women in my life that I care about. These days I’m not trying to be accused of something by other women.
Always! Gentleman is showing respect and value for yourself. If you can't respect and value yourself you can't respect or value anyone else.
This man does because chivalry and lust are my treatment of a woman.( Club her with kindness before laying the boys' club on her.)
Yes, a lot of them do.
Car door, yes. Entry/exit doors I open and hold for anyone.
Yes, know a better way to check out her ass
if I reach the door first yes
How about car?
lol no that's insane
I found some videos/reels about women don’t even get in the car or get out because their men don’t open the door for them.
Curious if that really happen in the RL.
