Is liquor really a "truth" serum?

Do men or women confess their true feelings, or become a different person with when they are under the influence? I guess they may depending on how much they have drank.

Do you have any experience with this? I myself do n to, but I went out with someone who was very quiet and although polite, didn't talk much and seemed very nervous and fidgety. After 2 rounds of drinks, he suddenly got very talkative, more friendly, open, joking, laughing and so on.

I wish I could give a best answer for those who made sense. I think alcohol does show a side of your character, that is not seen when you are sober. I've never been totally drunk, only tipsy--and even then when I get like that which wasn't been in years---everything I see is suddenly amusing and funny.
