I'd like to just let you know, perhaps you've never seen a woman up close in real life. But makeup only really hides flaws in photographs and video. In real life you can still see skin texture, you can see the flaws under the makeup. Lighting and angles play a huge role in how good and "flawless " makeup looks.

Plus, I think what she pointed out is just basic common knowledge for most of us. Just by being thin and having almost normal-ish face, she had more potential beauty—*without makeup*—than the overwhelming majority of U. S. women.

The number one reason is society/humanity is shallow as fuck. They put ridiculously high standards to women that are only possible through makeup and even surgery if they can afford it.

It applies to men, though to a lesser extent. Men are expected to look more imperfect so an average looking guy with little to no tweaks is good to go, but a truly ugly looking guy will still be treated as subhuman.

Also, a lot of women who "look good without makeup" are actually wearing makeup, just lighter more natural looking makeup. If they were to go actually without makeup, people would make so many comments about how they look sickly or how they have so many marks and dark spots and stuff.
