I don't have a partner.
But IDEALLY it would be a partner - unless there's something wrong with the relationship, like abuse, or he is inconsiderate, just not present for the thing, or something.

(like I've seen videos of men going to sleep during labor, or taking a console with him to the hospital to play on)

Hard to respond because I don't have a partner but I think my mother because she's a woman and thus would be able to help me an support me better

I think it depend on the person everyone is different and like i said I don't have one so it's hard to know if I would want him there or not, right i would say no I rather him not be ther because I wouldn't want him to see me in such a messy state.
