Why do women generally give hints rather than saying it out?

Women generally give hints about things they want rather than saying it out straight. Why is that?

I feel like this is a stereotype, but I do this a lot. 😅 I wish I was more direct sometimes, because I often feel upset when they don't pick up on my hints.

I think there are a few reasons I do this.

1) I want it to come from their heart. Like if I want some food or a gift or especially something in the bedroom I'd like my partner to know me well enough to know what I Like.

2) I want them to like it too. I don't want my partner to go to a restaurant they hate. I want to go to a restaurant we both like. If I'm like "lets go to this place", I'm afraid I'll get the, "yes dear" even tho he hates it.

3) I don't want to hurt them or make them feel pressured, and I feel like if they come up with it on there own it will be less blunt.

4) I don't know what to say. Sometimes I give hints not just to my partners, but to myself too. I often don't know what I want. I know what I don't want, but after that I'm lost. So it's really hard to be direct when you have no idea where you are going.

I even noticed that with a former girlfriend who was a sargent in the military. It surprised me that even an assertive woman like that used hints. Anyway I enjoyed dating her regardless. I tried to work around it. As to why women do this? I don’t know. LOL

Some are taught to be subtle and that it’s more ladylike than being direct. Others may feel shy or not confident enough to risk rejection. In general girls notice details more and hints can seem like they are trying when many guys see the macro view
