Do you have "one word answer" friends?

I have a friend that lately I only communicate with via text. The other day, she posted a picture and I asked "I heard you were traveling. Have you made it to Barcelona?" To which she replied. "yes". That's it.

This is only one example. We've been chatting for years and sometimes the answers are worthlessly terse.

I should add, she's very talkative when she initiates a conversation. When I say something , she responds in nice detail.

Haha you know of mine! Very minimalist in most of his responses. Where I could write a book with each response I make.

Firstly I've got used to it and like your friend it's not always one worded or short answers. Sometimes his replies are purely emojis! Whole sentences feel amazing lol. But it can feel hard work when it is short responses!

Secondly it's funny but sometimes if I mimic him in replying the way he does, he asks if I'm OK lol. I usually do mimic his style when I'm annoyed with him tho.

I wouldn't put up with it from anyone else... I use to say hi to this guy everyday and got one word minimal back so after a few weeks stopped.

one of my friends is like this... over text, lmfao...

not intentional, she's just like that and doesn't really like to chat much via screens, so I do have to smack her over the screen for her to reply more

but also... the core and the base of our friendship developed in person, face to face, and actually hanging out... and in that case, we could go as much as eight hours non-stop... wherever or whatever we're doing, lol

to be fair, though... you're asking a very SIMPLE question, without following comments, so... you also have to give them a reason to engage with you as well... lol
