Why would a girl tell me she’s single now?

It’s a girl I used to work with, we’ll call her Heather, I seemed to be her favorite while she was there and I found her attractive but she had a boyfriend so I never really made any moves. She quit a while back and gave me her Snapchat. We somewhat kept in touch since but hardly. In the months after she quit we messages a lot and she’d send me some flirty-ish messages. Example was she called me a douchebag because I wear a chain and then said “okay…truth is…it actually looks good” after I told her it was real. Then she sent me a picture of her nails after getting them done and said “dick grabbers look good.” After that though it was pretty infrequent, maybe a short chat once every couple weeks?

Anyway I got fired recently after a dispute with another girl whom we’ll call Rebecca who tried cheating on her boyfriend with me. I was pretty rude and got terminated so I let Heather know what happened. She asked me to keep her updated so I did and told her I was going to text Rebecca’s boyfriend and she was interested in how it would play out, after that ordeal was done (He went full cuck on me) I let Heather know it was done.

Couple days later I wake up to a message from her. It said “I’m a free bird now”. I asked her what she meant and she said “I’m single stupid”. I asked her why she was telling me that and then told her I think I knew why. She asked me why I think that and I said “I dunno, ‘dick grabbers look good’”, quoting her from months ago. She then said “I forgot about that that wasn’t flirting tho”. I said “mkay” and she left me on read for a few hours. She then snapped me, I snapped her back, no words in either exchange and I’m on opened again

My advice would be to just play it cool for now, bro. Don't chase her too hard or get super invested. If she's really interested, she'll make that clear. But don't get your hopes up too much either - she might just be enjoying the flirtation without any real intention of taking it to the next level.

Keep your options open and focus on your own life. If something more develops naturally with Heather, great. But don't put all your eggs in that basket, ya feel me? Better to keep swingin' and see what else is out there.

If this was a girl hitchhiking on the road I’d keep driving if I was you. She has no loyalty the way she was flirting w you like that behind her man’s back. It’s sad that about 56% of women have a backup man, that’s you are. Chances are she’ll do the same to you especially if she meets some dude who has a better life than you. A woman shouldn’t be talking like that to another man. Forget what she’s thinking you need to dodge this bullet.
