Why did he hug me twice?

It was our first time running into each other in the parking lot and right when I went up to him he opened his arm for a side hug. He walked me to my car and we talked for a few minutes. He hugged me again but this time it was an actual hug. Our bodies were against each other. He rubbed his arm slowly on my back, I'd say about twice and he squeezed me tightly while doing the arm thing. This hug lasted way more than the first one, about 7-10seconds I think. Any opinions?

The first hug reads more like a greet. That's no big deal.

The second hug reads more like, "I like you." But I think that's a pretty sly/risky/perverted way of expressing that. Call me too proper or not, but I think that's just bad mannerism there, but if you are fine with it good for him. The alternative meaning could be that he thinks you as someone he can trust and might have some personal issue he wants to open up to you. If you are close/good friends with him, maybe you should ask if everything is OK in his life. But solely based on your description, I think the former is the reason.
