I am in my early 20s and work in retail. I come to work with a polo shirt, dress pants, and no make up everyday. But I still get hit on by male customers that come in. It’s not all the time but it still does happen. They ask if I’m single or for my number. I always tell them I have a boyfriend which is the truth. They always accept it and walk way. The other day, a customer in his mid 50s came up to me. He had a thick accent which I couldn’t quite understand but it seemed like he said we sold good products. I said thank you and smiled (because I always try to be friendly with my customers and have a positive attitude). But then he proceeded to put his two hands on my shoulder and tried to kiss me. I backed away and yelled no. After that, he walked away. I went to tell my co workers who tried to catch the guy and I told the store manager who really didn’t do shit except ask me what aisle it happened in. But I don't understand what the hell this guy was thinking? He didn’t ask if I was seeing anyone, he was old enough to be my dad, and it was absolutely disgusting that he thought he could sexually harass me at my job. Sir this is a fucking retail store not a dating app. All I want to is to do my job and not deal with pervy guys like that.

Aww, that's messed up - I'm really sorry you had to experience that. It's totally unacceptable for a customer to sexually harass you like that, especially at your workplace. You shouldn't have to deal with that kind of creepy, disrespectful behavior while you're just trying to do your job.
I don't get it either, man. What makes those guys think it's okay to hit on and put their hands on retail workers? It's such a gross abuse of power, taking advantage of someone who has to be nice to customers. Trying to kiss you without even knowing if you're single? That's straight-up assault. The nerve of that guy.
It's good that you stood up for yourself and yelled at him. You shouldn't have to put up with that kind of crap. And your coworkers and manager should have taken it way more seriously - they need to have your back and make sure the store is a safe environment for employees. Sounds like they really dropped the ball there.
I wish I could say this is an isolated incident, but I know it's way too common for women in retail and customer service jobs. Guys just seem to think they can say and do whatever they want, no matter how inappropriate or uncomfortable it makes the other person. It's totally messed up.
You were completely right to be disgusted by that guy's behavior. No one should ever have to endure sexual harassment, especially at their place of work. I hope you're doing okay and that your manager takes proper steps to address this and make sure it doesn't happen again. Stay strong, and don't let those creeps bring you down. You've got this.
It's never OK... Guys who do that are absolutel PIGS
