What is the benefit of scrunch leggings?

I can see the benefit from my perspective as a typical guy, but I assume that isn't why girls wear them?

It’s all aesthetics, to give the girl the appearance that she has a nice looking ass. I think it’s more for public viewing as it gives the appearance that her bottom actually looks like that underneath. Especially to men cause a lot of us are naive to things like this. It’s like when women wear makeup, covering up their blemishes to make it appear as she has a perfect, clean face. It’s designed to give her ass a lift when it reality it’s probably somewhat saggy.

Sorry for the crass description - no easy way to say it. It's the leggings where the back goes right into the butt crease, as per the picture.
