They just feel totally totally differently about shoes. Totally differently.
This is something I won't pretend to understand. What I have learned though, is: The answer is that women's relationship to shoes is way deeper, and more complex than a man will ever be able to understand, or appreciate.
You won't get a satisfactory answer to this. At best, you'll come around to the view I've come around to myself. It's just something different. It's a different way of thinking.
