To be murdered for political reasons I guess.

Misandrist bullshit
Actually, this is an interesting comment since Monroe exploited men. She married them as a way of disguising her lesbianism (as did other glamorous starlets such as Joy Lansing, Judy Carne, Claudette Colbert, Barbara Stanwyck and many others). Monroe's longest and most satisfying relationships were with women notably Nathasha Lytess.
Many years ago I tried to break into the entertainment field and was acquainted with a woman who knew her very well. She affirmed that Monroe had a very low self esteem.
True, she wasn't respected all that much by others but this is because (so they say) she had little regard for herself.
Agree with most of this but I think she was FORCED into these marriages as much as she was FORCED into being an escort in order to have a career to provide for herself. The industry was and still is run by men, she had no education, no family she was a foster sent from home to home. Her marriages were forced by management for publicity. It wasn't anything she wanted as you can see she ended them with divorce so I wouldn't say she exploited men when her image was created by men. Look at her before and after pics. The innocent red head to a lustful blonde
Her first marriage at 16 wasn't coerced.
@NoDecision there was some coercion she was forced to divorce him in order to have a career. Hollywood told her in order to have a contract she had to be unmarried and appear so. Despite this she did the divorce but wanted a relationship with him still. Not sure where you're trying to go with this but it's not working lol.
@NoDecision the topic here was essentially that marilyn was exploiting men. She didn't have that type of power she was controlled.
"FORCED"
Forced into marriages? By whom?
Joe DiMaggio was a baseball player and nothing to do with Hollywood. Arthur Miller was a writer, not a Hollywood exec. Her first husband was a neighbor and childhood sweetheart. From my past readings, I have never come across any proof or even the slightest hint that she was forced into any marriages. Furthermore, it is an established fact that lesbian actress Natasha Lytress was her biggest influence.
@sachem do you really think Hollywood relationships were real then? 🤣 it's publicity
@babebytheshore85 Can you settle something for me? Did you pick MHO yourself or did you pick them? My understanding is that when there is a Superb Opinion, MHO was chosen by the G@G MHO Bot.
It's because the public perception of Marilyn is undeniably charming, and people don't really bother to learn the full story. The full story inconvenient. I think it's also easy to get swept up in the promise of being happy and fulfilled. A lot of women viewed Marilyn's carefree image as a symbol of liberation done well.
I've noticed that about a lot of social movements. The marketing materials don't line up with the reality of a situation, and most people will try to separate the good from the bad instead of recognizing that there's a reason the good and bad elements were found in the same person.
Her life was very sad and tragic but looking into her as a person she was an amazing woman who lived a life worth writing about. She's beautiful and an fashion icon but I'd never want her life for myself
Same, I admire her ability and courage to go from rags to riches. If I were in her position I don't think I'd have the courage to be around the "well-to do" people

Because of what she represented. Her personal life may have been in shambles. But she appeared as glamorous and beautiful and could portray feminine energy to become an icon. Again her personal life likely was horrible but the public only saw the fake presentation. That is what little girls saw and wanted to emulate, the fake outward show.
I just glanced through your article. I've asked myself the same thing. Why do people want to emulate any celebrity that has these kinds of issues? Maybe that is why society is in the mess it is in. No good role models?
Exactly such a good point
Thanks
They want to emulate her because she was pretty. I don’t know anyone that wants to emulate her personality bc no one actually knows anything about her lol
Women want to emulate her beauty, not her tragic life. She was and probably will always be, one of the sexiest, most alluring beautiful women ever to be on screen.
They liked her image but are largely unaware and/or indifferent to the tribulations that she went through.
Well she had status and power even if she didn't have power.
I dunno, I never found her attractive or interesting, be it physically or mentally.
By the way, she wasn't even a natural blonde, she dyed her hair.
In reality, she was a redhead.
That too 🤣🤣 I should've poster those. She was cute as a ginger
You can do it in update ;)
I can't put the picture there
You can, just copy/paste, I did it several times.
She is respected, The problem was She wasn't respected back then.
She was a beautiful woman who was sadly mistreated and abused by a lot of men.
I know that lol 😆 but why do women want to emulate her and men are always " marilyn " was the best in the world! Her life sucked lol
Because she was a stunning woman who all the guys wanted, and all the girls wanted to be like.
I don't know anyone who wants her life tbh
