A couple of times girls told me how they disliked another girl and the literal next weekend they are posting stories together. Like it’s not a rare thing, it happens every now and then. Do you have to make it seem like you like them or what’s the deal?

It can definitely be a case of them needing to seem like they like the girl they just told you they hate. That's the most common explanation. Why? To maintain the delicate social balance in a way that, frankly, you and I don't need to concern ourselves with.
But its to maintain the social equilibrium within a larger group (friend group, classmates, workplace. family, etc). It is just one of those differences between men and women socially.
Women with other women are playing by slightly different social rules. You don't need to know those rules. You just need to be ok with this seemingly insane, but common thing. It won't make sense to you. Just leave it at "they have their reasons."
Real, I think it’s better we don’t always understand eachother
Because as much as women like to say they support each other, women empowerment, etc, etc, many of them can’t stand each other. It’s the same where I work. Female dominated field, one group doesn’t like the other group. Even a in their own group they will make comments about each other when that person isn’t around. Yes I know for the women who are going to say I’ve seen men do the same. I don’t dismiss that but it’s not to the extreme of how women are.
These are typical girls behavior. To me this all sounds stupid and silly.
