Throughout history females were the ones to show their interest towards a guy. Be it dropping their handkerchief next to the guy to pick it up, using the fan to signal she’s interested, giving out calling cards, asking the guy for a dance, and many other examples. Why is it that females in the modern era expect guys to just know that they’re interest do the initiating and do subsequent steps. If you like a guy tell him and let him know. So he can begin the dating process.

What century are you living in? Dropping her handkerchief? I have honestly not seen a girl carry one in my entire life and how is dropping it next to a guy a sign of flirting? Using the fan? What fan? The ceiling fan? How do I signal with a fan. Honestly none of this makes sense and I have never seen any girl flirt or try to signal they are into someone with a single example you've given. Perhaps that is your problem. You are stuck in the early 19th century when you look for signs. If you like a girl then you have to be proactive. You can't count on her knowing that you are and just sit in the corner waiting for her to talk to you. The same goes for girls. We can't just sit around and expect that a guy we like is going to know it. Sending smoke signals is not going to do it either.

Girls have not forgotten to initiate, they simply have become much more careful than in the 17th. Century.

In those days, dropping your handkerchief was merely a sign that she was interested in having a conversation with the gentleman. Today, there are barely any gentlemen left and certainly not in the 16-30+ age group.

A girl that initiates a conversation or that approaches a man is misunderstood as wanting to fornicate with said man. This is what society nowadays has taught us. Be cautious otherwise you may be misunderstood and either labelled a hoe or desperate for initiating a conversation with a man.

In today's screwed up society, everything revolves around one single topic and girls are, after all, the only ones that will bear the consequences.

Thanks for giving an answer, I would say if we are honest you’re wanting to initiate a conversation with a guy that you find attractive, so sex is a factor let’s be real. It’s about seeing if the other factors click. As for the handkerchief signs I’d say it’s flirtatious in nature sure there’s a conversation but it wasn’t just a conversation there was even signals for “I love you” or “Look, we are watched.” Or “ let’s just be friends”. Either way women were making their initial interest known in different ways before a guy would get the green light. Thanks for your comment though, I find many have many risks when pursuing women, men are called creeps if they are undesired , desperate, cancelled / me too ‘d on social media for looking at a girl, social pressures, false accusations etc. I think females should keep giving green lights to guys they are interested in at least for conversations.

Based on what I’m seeing women let a guy know they’re interested either direct, indirect, non verbal, verbal ( woth some examples above) etc. before men then proceed to spoke to the family, set up courtships, dates etc. social media is getting things twisted. Females have very much been the initiators of romance. And especially now days there is nothing stopping them. The Hunter vs Gatherer analogy is often used by social media, except Hunters set up traps and were cautious to stay alive, Gatherers actively sought out the foods, fruits that they wanted etc and picked them.
