Just like @EmmaMary ’s husband, it’s just something easy to me. Never practiced, it was just always a gift/talent.
Every girl I had the pleasure to permit me to, exclaimed surprise at my ability to undo a bra one handed behind her back in a quick movement.
No prior practice, although played a lot of video games so possibly helped strengthen fingers and thumb.
If we were dating, there might be times (in private), I’d tease/annoy her by undoing it just after she got it on, for a bit of fun.
You know when dancing, girls will move a guy’s hand away from their bum if it’s too close and higher up their back? I’d get the same treatment if my hand was too high up her back near her bra she’d move it down her back as she wouldn’t trust me to behave in public, not that I ever did that of course but she wasn’t going to risk it, lol.
To be fair those days single and double clasp were common and super easy to undo in a second with one quick movement, now it’s three or even four individual clasps (who’s increasing this? Anymore and it must feel like doing up a shirt!), and sometimes can’t always get all four undone in the first movement especially if very tight, requiring a second strike.
Either I’m getting old and rusty (it’s got to start happening eventually, one day the talent will suffer from arthritis or whatever right?) or might need to practice given the new defence mechanisms (ever increasing number of clasps) just a bit.
These were not many girls by the way, and each would remark it was a shame it was a “wasted talent” (as I’d not been with many to remove).
I just smiled and nodded politely saying “You’re just lucky I guess.” Presuming they were just remarking on how surprising it was underused for a natural born talent.
Thinking about it afterwards though, hopefully they didn’t mean anything deeper by it. I’m sorry what? You wanted me to be a player or a perv? lol
When I was about 12, and doing the laundry, I took a look at the hooks on a bra and quickly figured out that you needed to pinch the two pieces that meet at the hooks to unhook it. A couple of years later, when I had my first dating experiences, I tried out my technique, and I quickly had it undone. The girl literally didn't believe I had gotten it undone until she moved around a bit and could actually feel that it was unhooked. She then rehooked it and told me to do it again, to prove it wasn't just luck. One quick pinch-snap and it was undone again. She was speechless. Unfortunately, at that point, I still hadn't impressed her enough to actually get it off of her - that took a while longer.
A couple of weeks later, she dared me to try it again, which made me a little suspicious. I started to move like I was going after the clasps on the back, but it hit me that she was a little too eager, so instead I quickly hooked my index finger under her bra at the front and gave it a quick pull-and-twist and her front closure bra was undone. "How did you know?" she demanded, as I just laughed. Finally, I told her: "I was highly motivated." I think that did finally impress her.
In college at parties, it was a party trick that impressed both guys and girls - guys because a lot of them never figured bras out and had to wait for the girl to take it off.
I'm a natural problem solver and I was highly motivated to solve this problem, so I just did. And that small investment has paid dividends for decades.
I have said many times here, that my husband must surely hold the world record for achieving this seemingly impossible task... Ever since I've known him (13 years.) he has been able to release and relieve me of my bra in nanoseconds... Whether I'm fully clothed or just in my bra/panties seems to make no difference at all... He even manages to do this somehow with one hand... Both my mother, my two elder sisters and even my mil, are completely mystified just how the hell he does this.
You have to pinch the two halves together to take the tension off the hooks, and then a little pop to unhook them. I can do a 2 or 3 hook bra in half a second reliably. A 4 hook bra is much harder, but I'm about 70% successful on the first try.
I learned it in grade 8. We all smoked back then and should Open a Zippo lighter with the snap of a hand. Same move worked with up to two hooks. Before sexual harassment had a name, we would pop girls' straps while walking down the hall. We kept score. Some girls became targets.
Unclasping a bra with one hand and not looking...: that's not an easy job mate ! I did it a few times with my wife, and sometimes succeeded, but often had to take a look... By the way, some bras are more easy than others.
Sometimes even struggling with two hands. I wish they all had clips at the front. The result is the same, you want to get to the bare facts asap (pun intended).
I learned pretty quickly. A few girls thought their tight fitting bra would resist my advances, but they were no match for my dexterity and quick movement, with either hand.
