Girls, Why would a girl completely ignore her ex instead of just being honest and saying it’s over?

Hi everyone, I’d really like to understand a girl’s perspective on this.

My ex and I haven’t spoken since early July. A few days ago, I sent her a calm, mature voice message, no pressure, no drama, just inviting her to my birthday with our old friend group that we have in common, and telling her it was totally fine if she didn’t want to come.

She listened to it… but never replied. Not even a simple “thanks” or “I’d rather not.”

I’m not angry, just confused. Why completely ignore someone instead of closing things with honesty and respect?

Is it immaturity, resentment, emotional self-protection or something else entirely?

I’d really appreciate a genuine female point of view on this.

Just like @Abbycado stated, she is an ex and she has no further obligations towards you.

We don't know how the relation ended and while you may think all is fine since she separated from you (or vice versa), she feels that she has no need to give you any answer to your voice message.

It is time for you to let things go and let her go her own way rather than to attempt to stir up old memories. It has been 3 months since the separation and who knows, perhaps that she has another boyfriend and she does not want to take the risk to cause insecurities by answering to you.
