I'll be honest when it's still in the dates 1-3 ballpark I honestly don't know if a woman is worth my possible jail time so my own personal defense mechanism would be to insult the instigator back and refrain from getting physical at that stage. I grew up in rough Appalachian Mountains town and I have had girls say that I was being wimpy for only defending their honor with a verbal rant back.

They want a man who can stay grounded, protect the situation, and not ruin both your lives because some stranger mouthed off.

Physical fights are messy, unpredictable, and can spiral into legal trouble fast.

Anyone expecting you to risk jail for “honor” on date one is thinking like they’re in a bar fight movie, not real life.

Wish young ladies recognized that when I was in my early 20's with dates my own age at the time. I grew up in a VERY rough Appalachian Mountains Boondock town where I was even teased while growing up in school for stopping the fight after landing a knock out hit and dropping the instigator to the ground. Apparently I was expected to attempt to permanently injure or kill my sleeping enemy so he could not challenge me to a fight again later on. Winning a fist fight was more about achieving social dominance more than the permanent destruction of someone's body, even while they sleep defeated.

That environment would shape anyone.

When violence is the norm, people start confusing it with strength.

But the fact that you didn’t take it further says a lot, you already had a line, even when the culture around you didn’t.

The older you get, the clearer it becomes.

Real strength is knowing when to stop, not how far you can go.

Id be more impressed if he didn't act like a savage and try to fight regardless of how long we've been dating. Im not going to be phased by a random stranger insulting me.

Now if that stranger becomes physical then it's a different story and even I will become involved in protecting myself. I would hope he would help me too in that situation.

Right physical aggression requires physical defense and protection. The incidents that I spoke of were all verbal and on first-third date situations, not enough to be worth my jail time. l

Think of the psychology behind that action, if a woman whupped is ass. It would have greater humiliation power in his mind. He would duck tape his own mouth to make sure he did not accidentally utter something that could be construed as an insult. Times have changed Chivalry is not dead but I know that there are many women that I would chose to fight with rather than against. Makes me wonder about the thrust of the insult.

I think you should find somewhere civilised to live. Being able to control yourself and act in a firm but appropriate way is part of being a man. Part of that is not smashing someone's face in who is just a moron, a pesky fly. Like I'm going to prison for 15 years for something I wouldn't trod in.

Opposite urban vs rural geographics but even more nuts than the hood in a lot of ways when it came to personal violence and aggression. I got teased and made fun of for stopping at knocking someone out when the situation got physical rather than going for blood and continuing to batte the unconscious body of who picked the fight with me and inflict as much damage on the sleeping enemy as possible. My idea of a fight was about establishing social dominance, their idea of a fist fight was about breaking as many bones as possible and permanently crippling and destroying your raval so that they could not challenge you again later. They played by super max prison inmate rules: physically hurt who you have to verbally challenge, permanently cripple who you have to hurt, and kill who you have to cripple.

This has only happened once. I think the guys cast aspersions on her likely chastity and sexual morals. I did hear it so I didn't respond. Once we were out of the 7 11 she ripped into me for not having belted them up.

But I actually agreed with them that her honor was a rather ragged banner. It was the reason I asked her out after all.

Still she got over it and put out anyway.
