Long story short, this girl and I at work have been getting more familiar as time goes on. I know I should avoid developing relationships like this at work, but it just happened.
So, we were having a conversation and a topic about my birthday came up.
Turns out her other coworker, which is her bestie (and they didn’t even ask beforehand)…told me that they are planning to celebrate my birthday and head out with me.
Like I just stated my birthday was at so and so month and day and the friend got back to me with this.
I am kinda shocked, but I feel great.

I’ve learned over the years that it’s just generally better not to make assumptions, or create narratives around those assumptions as opposed to just being direct with the person and getting a straight up answer. Especially when feelings are involved, and in such close proximity like at work. It’s totally fair to feel excited about your crush doing something for you, but in this case we can’t determine if there’s anything deeper when she’s planning this with a close coworker, where they’d likely invite other coworkers.
From an outside perspective, and having worked in an environment where we were privy to celebrating each other, this could be a friendly outing, especially if you didn’t make mention of any other plans to celebrate yourself. So this is not to douse your hopes whatsoever, this could definitely be something working in your favor and I would of course hope that’s the ultimate conclusion. I just wouldn’t make any assumptions about how someone could feel, it’s better to find out instead once you have the nerve.
I’m going to tell to do the complete opposite because I would know better. Go for it.
Yes, putting in effort to plan your birthday is a strong sign she cares about you.
