Me and this guy had a romantic connection in the past (no relationship). He didn't wish me happy birthday last year or this year. I didn't wish him a happy bday last year, but this year I did.

Does is look like I'm chasing him? Or asking for attention?

It could be especially if you're not on speaking terms overall. And I think if a guy hasn't wished you happy birthday after your romantic connection ended that's pretty much a hint as to whether you're on his mind or not. You'll be doing wonders for his ego though.

Never let anyone make you feel any different when you’re trying to be a good person and care about someone else feelings. I say happy birthday to my asshole ex husband and people I barely know.
