Men are usually referred to as the stronger sex, in general terms physically stronger. But are we the weaker sex as far as emotions are concerned?

Emotions in guys are almost impossible to judge. Guys have a societal expectation, though less so than before, to hide their emotions in order to give this aura? illusion? of strength. It's an old philosophy that most people have moved past. Bottling them up isn't healthy but many are still afraid to show any emotion someone might consider "weak", and there's still a minority who judge them when they do so it's understandable why some don't. So guys don't share their true emotions as much but that's not weakness. Men are more likely to think logically and not emotionally but that isn't better or worse, it's just different.

Then of course there are none of these characteristics that apply to everyone. Plenty of men and women are emotionally "weak" and plenty are emotionally "strong".

The men who have been in my life (in the past 10 years) that I associate with seem to be doing pretty good at showing their emotions around me.

It might take them a little while until they feel like I am a safe place for them to do that, but when they finally do, I can tell that it's something they've been wanting to do and finally have.

Most of us have been told when we were just kids that boys don't cry. You didn't show your emotions in a group of guys. Maybe there was just this one close friend you were extremely comfortable with, but that was about it. No wonder we find it easier to talk to girls about what we feel.

men and women, usually... in general terms... express and handle emotions slightly differently...

for example... a woman shows up, and notices a man she knows well, and will ask "what's wrong, what's going on?" why is this? because women tend to pick up more subtle cues that are not so evident, and they will see the man is upset about something and also, women are more expressive and outwards with emotions and feelings, so of course they would be willing to discuss it...

but a man... who also knows this other man well, will show up and the most likely scenario, in the same circumstances might be... "let's get drunk, let's eat something, let's have fun... let's do nothing because why not" yeah

he might not even notice it or he will just dismiss it... lmao

I don't think woman becoming passive aggresive or storming out of the room during any minor disagreement makes them emotionally stronger.

"Emotions" are not necessary to survive as a species and that's the main purpose of all attributes of living things.

If you consider things like fear and bravery, for example, to be emotions, then those can help someone stay alive and be able to reproduce, so if you fear something and stay away from it so you live longer and can reproduce, that can be a good evolutionary thing, and if you are brave when there's danger you have the change to remove the danger and again live longer to reproduce. I'm sure there are many attributes like this that could have evolved to give people more chances at surviving and reproducing.

I mean you guys seem to control your emotions better. The only thing I think men are weaker the women at is impulse control. Men are also not as good at reading people or understanding there emotions. I don't know if that counts as "weaker though" I'd consider it as less aware.

It depends on the man. Choosing to hide emotions is not a sign of weakness. Choosing to deny them however is.
