Do women still want flowers on a first date, and why or why not?

I never gave a girl flowers for a first date obviously, and I think it is a bit silly if you ask me, especially if you don't really know each other, but what do you think? Why?

I am honestly just curious because someone said that flowers on a first date matter to her. What's so good about flowers? Some people are allergic. I think I've only given flowers to one woman that I dated, but this is after we went on numerous dates, and she told me she liked flowers. I wouldn't ask her about it though because her new boyfriend is insecure.

I've known some women that don't like flowers... either allergies or reminds them of a funeral. So it's also a risk. If you ask her in advance, that's communication, builds mystery and suspense and that's even better.

Or worse if she starts feeling stress, she may cancel and ghost.

When I was dating, if I had spent some time talking to a girl and had a good feeling about her, I would take her a single white rose on a first date, and I explained that in the language of flowers, the white rose symbolized new beginnings. I don't think any girl ever reacted adversely to that gift.

If you do decide to give her flowers 💐 make sure they come in a vase! A lot of people don't have anything to put fresh flowers 🌺 🌹 in.

I would never expect a first date to receive flowers. But a single pretty pink rose with some babies breath and a dash of greenery would be great!

Why would a guy give a white rose to a woman? They remind me of deceased people.

flowers on a first date is sweet I'm a girl and I think if I received flowers on my first date it would feel special it shows the guy is interested and is a gentleman it's the small things that matter so opening a door for her or giving her flowers is a gentleman thing to do its romantic it's basic for a guy to take a girl out to dinner pay the bill and leave I mean everyone does that it's hard now a days to find a sweet man who would give a woman flowers on their first date not every man does that you have to put effort into a first date if you don't put effort then you really aren't looking for a girlfriend just a fling if that's the case then tell her that's all you want

A whole bouquet on a first date is too much in my opinion, one flower or something small and simple would be nice, but a whole bouquet would be a little too dramatic. I mean it might be nice depending how everything else goes but it’s kind of pressure or something. JMO!

Seems over the top for a first date. You give flowers to someone you know will like them and you choose flowers they'd appreciate or prefer. No gifts of any kind other than your presence.

Flowers seem a little corny and outdated to me. Plus, what's she gonna do with them for 4-5 hours on a date? Also it may come off as trying too hard and set unreasonable expectations.
