Why do people say someone is a “good guy” but still reject them?

I hear this way too often from personal and third party experiences, when a girl breaks up with a guy, or when someone gets friend-zoned, that the girl thinks that the guy is the best guy they have ever met. Why say it if you have no intention on keeping on with it?

There are probably millions of "good guys" in this world. Why the heck would we want to keep all of them? We are not hoes that fornicate left and right with all the good guys we come across in our lifetime.

I know a couple of good guys but far from me the idea to even want to have something to do with them. They are acquaintances or friends but I would never let it become a personal issue and let them get too close for my comfort.

A good guy is by definition someone that you appreciate for his demeanor, his character and/or personality but that does not mean you have to sleep with those people.

"the guy is the best guy they have ever met" just means that he was the best so far, not that he was "good" or what she has been looking for.

Being a good guy could mean anything.

You can be a good guy and not meant to be dating a certain person.
