If you ever are going to have expectations for a man/woman, that’s in itself a projection of yourself onto him/her. Don’t be disappointed when he is tired of playing the character you demanded of him/her. I think in all honesty ask him/her how he/she treats the women/men in his/her life …. Complete the sentence with your values…..! …..!

I don't think it's right to view the other person like modeling clay and try to mold them. I'm curious about people's expectations for an ideal male partner.

I wish I could go with the ideology of what an ideal male partner is. I can only speak based on my perceptions/experiences. Every time I had expectations of someone, in the long run, it proves me wrong. I feel like I betrayed myself every time. I realized that the ideology of the ideal person is what I want, and like you said, I can’t mold someone into my ideology. At this point, I don’t seek, I don’t impose, I enjoy the moment as it is; a person will always be who they’re actually are; time will tell. You decide if you should stay; no one’s is perfect; you decide at what point to leave.

You speak very compellingly. You are absolutely right. Don't you have certain criteria? For instance, that the person shouldn't be a chatterbox, that they should make your life easier, or that they shouldn't forget special occasions? It makes me sad that you've had such bad experiences that you wouldn't even consider such generally expected things.

“No, one is perfect” I think I am inferring from the make up of someone’s character, aptitude etc. not physical and aesthetic features.

Of course, no one is perfect, and we are mature enough not to seek perfection. Expecting nothing from the other person might also be a logical way to reveal their selfishness. However, I might also consider this: if you remain unresponsive to situations, it could lead to thoughts like, "Am I unable to please this girl? Is there a problem?" and so on.

I think, I loose general interest. I don’t even set criteria. I tried to entertain the idea of it. I can't connect.

Truly bad experiences may have led to a sense of numbness. This is a really bad situation. You shouldn't lose your emotions and feelings.
