So to clear things up first obviously I know high school was a long time ago at age 25 and is irrelevant to my life today... but I'm still curious. It's one of the things that stayed in my mind. For context this was back when I was 16 and in the 10th grade. My crush was slightly older than me, I think 17 in the 11th grade. I have some pretty severe social anxiety that causes me to literally freeze up and that makes it hard for me to even say thank you, hello, or good morning.
My crush had held the door for me like five or six different times and I never said thank you because I was so nervous around her that I couldn't speak. She showed no reaction. One day though I mustered up enough courage to finally say thank you to her and I felt pretty proud of myself. She just sort of replied "yep" and I thought that was that.
But then as I was leaving the hallway, she shouted really loudly so everyone could here: "OH MY GOD EZRA JOHN SMITH! THANK YOU FOR SAYING THANK YOU! FOR JUST EXACTLY ONCE IN YOUR LIFE YOU WERE FINALLY A KIND AND CONSIDERATE PERSON! AGAIN THANKS FOR SAYING THANKS EZZIE AND HAVE JUST A WONDERFUL AND PEACHY AMAZING DAY!"
For the record "Ezra John Smith" is not my real full name, I just used it as an example, she said my first, middle, and last name.
And she didn't say it in a playful way. She sounded very sarcastic and very angry and full of hatred. I had never felt so ashamed in my life but my mind to cope just sort of felt indifferent instead of crying. I just kept walking and didn't reply to her because I didn't know what to say. All I knew was I completely blew things with her.
In the beginning she was actually somewhat nice to me, smiling as she held the door. But I guess she got tired of being nice.
Maybe I could've had a chance with her if not for my severe social anxiety.
Either way is this type of reaction normal? That's what I wanna know.

Not normal... She's not a good person
Yeah. Thanks for letting me know. I can understand being generally upset when you do a favor for someone and the other person doesn't even acknowledge it (I myself can get upset over this) but blowing up on the person over it and shouting across a hallway is a bit much.
I forgot to say thank you out of severe social anxiety... it's not like I killed her dog or something.
Probably you creeping her out
Contact her and find out
Uh I don't even remember her full name bro lol. And even if I did people my age don't usually use their real names on social media anyway. They prefer places like Instagram and Twitter over Facebook.
David, the girl you don’t remember her name look for her on Facebook
David? And I did actually. She's literally not on there. Most people my age don't use Facebook. An argument is that they don't wanna be on the same platform their parents and grandparents use. People my age associate Facebook with old people.
That’s a lie David that’s not true. You’re just too shy to put the work in.

Uh wtf are you talking about? David is neither my real name nor an online name I've ever used. Regardless of statistics though that specific girl just isn't on there period.
That’s my pet nickname for you
Okay... kind of a weird thing to do. Especially with a completely random person you don't even know and are not even friends with.
Because you annoy me with your shyness to let the girls slip through your fingers
At this point I don't even know what else to say. The event in my post happened 9 years ago and I don't even remember her full name. I've pretty much hit a wall.
Do you have an old yearbook do you recognize her face start searching her face and see if you can find out her name
They did have yearbooks but I didn't get one because they were actually really expensive at my school and I only had like literally two friends in the entire school so I didn't even bother as I had no positive memories with any of those people lol.
Ok…..
Yeah. That's literally the end of it. Lol.
That’s up to you
Yeah like it or not it's long over. If it was really that important to me I would've memorized her full name.
Hmmm but how long did you date her?
What? I literally didn't date her at all. I practically never talked to her and she barely knew I existed. At the beginning of the year the teacher assigned us plus another girl to work on an assignment together and we talked just about the assignment itself and that was the most we spoke the whole year... and this was in the very beginning of the year too, I think before I even fully developed my crush on her.
Then our next and last interaction was at ther end of the year when she yelled at me and called me out, like I described in my post.
So basically we only ever interacted twice.
Oh i see
Yeah. Overall it definitely taught me a valuable lesson about just going for it and talking to people. If you stay too quiet it definitely won't end well. Social anxiety is a massive bitch to deal with but if you wanna make friends or get close to your crush you have to overcome it. If you don't overcome your social anxiety you'll make exactly zero progress and most likely resent yourself in the future.
I wish you the best of luck
Thanks. You too with whatever you do.
Thank you and you’re welcome
