She- A very busy divorced 35yr old mom of a young child. Me- a much less busy 46yr old divorced dad of a child in college... So at the four month point in a dating relationship, she says "i don't want to waste your time" because she is so very busy right now and she it. When I asked if this means she wants to end things she reassured me that NO she does not but only that she can't offer the time to me that she thinks I should require. She isn't a game player but I do feel some what of a disconnect even though she texts me all evening long and calls me regularly. I have asked if she is inviting me break it off and again she said NO... she feels guilty not being able to offer time right now and most men would be upset about it.. most notably her last relationship... YES she is legitimately busy.. Is she being noble and giving me an opt out? ...

Sounds like she could just be *actually* busy. I know, it's such a worn-out excuse, but sometimes it really is true. It doesn't really mean anything that she's still texting and calling.. those things don't require a whole lot of concentration, after all. The fact that she said she "doesn't want to waste your time" seems a bit suspicious though... it can be a signal that she doesn't think she will ever be able to offer you the kind of relationship you want, busy or not. Either way, if she really wants to keep seeing you, she will find a way to make it work, even if it's just a quick coffee break in between errands or whatever.

I think she is being honest about her time restraints and just wants you to know that she would give more to you, if she had the time to do so. If she was NOT interested, she wouldn't be texting and calling everyday. She may just want to see if you are willing to continue, knowing her situation. She may just want to hear you say that she's worth it, and you aren't going anywhere. Hard to say without knowing her.

From my own personal experience, "I don't want to waste your time" usually means I find a guy pleasant enough, but I don't have a strong incentive to keep seeing him. Being busy makes it harder to find time for someone you only have lukewarm feelings for in an attemp to try to make it grow. BUT that is just me. She could just be telling you that she's busy and doesn't really have the energy to make things progress, but senses that you are wanting more from the relationship.
