Women see programmers as beta males?

This is a theory a female friend of mine had to explain the "loophole" whereby a rich, attractive young man can be ignored by women that would otherwise see him as a suitable mate.

Programmers are usually reserved and behind the scenes, but they're a hot commodity. If I was expert at what I did and got paid generously for it, screw what girls think. They can have their fun with all the meatheads they think are good candidates, I'll just keep doing my own thing :)

Because if you were smart (like I'd assume a programmer to be), you would go for quality and mature women. Seems like you have some work to go.

Things are hardly black and white and it's not like every girl out there is being a "slut" as you seem to think. This pity party sh*t is silly and quite frankly, annoys the hell out of most people. If you don't care, then you're just like me because I don't care for your whining. Associate with quality girls and you won't worry.

Don't know really, that's the problem. Sometimes I find myself doing things I know show no self-respect, like dating a really ugly girl and putting up with her bullsh*t games

Well then that could be desperation showing up. If you always want a girl around and can't live without trying to be close to one, it's not only desperation but neediness. You need to come to a sense of comfort with yourself first. You need to be at a spot where you can be alone or with friends, and be happy with that. A relationship should not be a requirement, but rather a supplement to what's already going on in your life. If you can't feel like this, then stop dating and work on it first.

Yeah, usually. But that wouldn't stop me if he was rich, attractive and young and I like him. And I haaaave met a very few programmers who were alpha and attractive but it seems like they're the exception that prove the rule.
